Musical Distinction at Coombe Boys’
This week, Year 7 Coombe Boys’ School pupil, Mikey Cottom was delighted to discover that he has not only passed his Grade 7 cornet examination, but done so with distinction!
Mikey Cottom at just 12 years old has successfully achieved this outstanding grade - a standard expected to pass ‘A’ Level music and, therefore, a real accomplishment at such a young age.
Mikey is overjoyed with his achievement and commented, “I love playing the cornet and am thrilled to have achieved a pass with distinction”.
As well as a talented cornet player, Mikey is also a highly competent pianist and singer and is now hoping to study Jazz trumpet. Mikey is very much enjoying the variety of activities in his music lessons at Coombe Boys’ School and takes a full and active part in the extra-curricular life of the school as a keen member of the Blues Band, Coombe Orchestra and Coombe Boys’ Chamber Choir.
Mr. Welsh, Head of Music at Coombe Boys’ School described Mikey as a very modest and extremely talented all round musician who is a real pleasure to teach and has the potential to go on to achieve at the very highest levels.
