Coombe Vocational Centre Raise and Give
An annual event, RAG (Raise and Give) week is when sixth form students from both sites organise and take part in various activities to raise money for charity.
The students always take a vote on the charities and this year the money raised will be going to Save the Children (Haiti Fund) and St Raphael’s Hospice in North Cheam.
The sixth formers spent weeks planning a timetable of events to spread across RAG week: an intensely competitive football tournament; beauty treatments, including manicures and hand massages; a car wash, allowing the teachers to drive away in immaculately polished cars and a bake sale which alone raised an astonishing £110. These are just the highlights of an incredibly busy week for the students.
Head of Year 12 and 13 at the Vocational centre, Miss Natasha Hothy, was bursting with pride, “It’s the end of a fun-filled and entertaining week! It is a wonderful thing to see the sixth form students using their free time to raise money for such worthy causes.”
The grand total raised by the Vocational Centre students was a staggering £568!
