Course Description:
The BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts (Performance) Level 2 Qualification is a one year qualification equivalent to four GCSE’s at grades A*-C. The course provides work-related vocational training, which allows students through practical and written work to explore a wide variety of approaches to performance and the world of performing arts, building a range of skills and understanding in this sector.
Entry Requirements:
Entry requirements should include 4 GCSE’s at grades D-G. It would also be advantageous for students to have studied GCSE Drama, Music or Dance.
How is the course assessed?:
100% Practical & Written Coursework. Assessment is continuous, there are no written exams.
Core Units:
Two Compulsory Units -
· Performing Arts Production Process
· The Performing Arts Business
Specialist Units:
Four Specialist Units selected from the following -
· Understanding Drama
· Performing Scripted Plays
· Acting
· Musical Theatre
· Devising Plays
· Working as a Musical Ensemble
· Solo Musical Performance
· Performing Dance
Where can the course lead to?:
The course can provide a progression route to Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts or AS/A2 Level qualifications; and provides a broad educational basis for employment within the Performing Arts Sector.
