Year 7

Moving to secondary school is a very exciting experience. Here at Coombe Boys’ School we ensure that all of our boys are supported throughout this change. Each boy is invited to attend an induction day so that they can meet their tutor, Head of Year and Senior Management and get a taste of what lessons they will do. It also gives them the opportunity to ask any questions and make some new friends.

For those boys who find the change a daunting experience it also helps to put their mind at rest and look forward to joining us rather than worrying.Throughout Year 7 the boys are supported through their PHSE lessons, tutor time, assemblies and team building days. They are involved in Learn 2 Learn days throughout the year to develop their relationships with each other and ensure that they bond as a year group. Parents are invited to attend a welcome evening in July, a tutor evening in November and a parents’ evening later in the year in order to work together to support the boys’ learning. However, there may be other times during the year when communication is necessary and parents are encouraged to contact their son’s tutor or Head of Year if there are any issues.
