Coombes Boys School

Head of Year 7 Welcome

Dear Parents/Carers,

The move to secondary school is an exciting and important step in the life of every young man. Here at Coombe, we understand this transition can be a worrying and anxious time. As a community we are here to support the boys in every part of their journey.

As a school we have high expectations and will work with you and your son so he can reach his full potential.

We are now in our second year of the Coombe Big read.  We have worked with Kingston University to introduce a reading scheme that helps  with transition. On 4th July all boys will be given a book from us; this year it is Darkmouth by Shane Hegarty.  Over the son your son should read the book.

All members of the coombe community read the book and this gives everyone a common theme to start conversations with.  During the first term all subjects will have the themes of the book in their learning objectives.

At Coombe we all work together as a team, if you have any questions please contact either your son’s tutor or me. We are here to support your son’s journey into secondary school and want to give your son all the opportunities to see him achieven his goals, be happy and enjoy learning. I know that with the support of staff and yourselves your son will have a successful seven years at Coombe.
