WHO ARE ‘I NEED HELP’?
‘I need help’ is a free, confidential, anonymous helpline and email service offering a listening and support service in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Our focus is on teenagers and young adults and our callers and emailers are often experiencing serious problems that affect their emotional well-being and mental health. Issues range from fear and abuse, depression, isolation and loneliness, bullying and the impact of divorce and family conflict.
Our trained volunteers listen and support the caller to consider available options for next steps or resolution. Volunteers empathise and encourage callers to understand their problems, explore how they are being affected and support the caller on the path they choose to take, without fear of being judged. We have no criteria for gender, or ethnic origin that would stop anyone receiving support and our helpline is free from all landlines and mobile providers.
WHAT DO ‘I NEED HELP’ OFFER?
Free telephone and email support specific for teenagers and young adults. Trained volunteers listen and respond in a non-judgemental and safe environment, focussing on the emotional well-being of the caller/emailer. We accept calls and emails from those who need regular support for an on-going situation and from those needing help and support at a particular time.
WHAT DOES ‘I NEED HELP’ OFFER TO PROFESSIONALS AND OTHER SUPPORT ORGANISATIONS?
‘I need help’ offers signposting for professional through their database of over 700 local and national organisations which can be accessed via the helpline. If you work with a team of people who would be interested in hearing more about what we do and the support we can offer, please contact us to arrange a meeting.
WHEN DOES ‘I NEED HELP’ OPERATE?
‘I need help’ is staffed daily from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday and emails will be responded to during these hours.
