Reporting an absence & term time holidays

Punctuality and Attendance

Punctuality

Punctuality means being on time and is an important part of self–discipline and essential to good time management.

Pupils, who arrive late for whole school assemblies, but before the start of period 1 at 9.00, must enter the Hall by the back doors and report to the member of staff on late duty.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays pupils arriving after 8.40am, but before 9.00, should report to their tutor.

All pupils arriving after 8.55am must report to the school reception where the date and time of arrival will be recorded in their planner. Persistent lateness to school and lessons will be dealt with through the school’s behaviour policy and detention systems.

The School Day starts at 8.40 am

Attendance

If pupils attend school every day their attendance will be 100% and they will receive a certificate for this at the termly Celebration Assembly. Coming to school every day means they will learn and make progress. There is a strong link between attainment and attendance. If pupils are not in school, parents should telephone school before 8.00am on the first day of the absence on 020 8329 2587. Alternatively, parents may e-mail the school before 8:00am on the first day of their son’s/daughters absence and every day thereafter:

Pupils should always bring a note to their tutor from their parents when they return to school after being away.

Parents are strongly requested not to arrange family holidays during term time as we are unable to authorise these.

Illness and Accidents

If pupils feel unwell or have an accident they must tell their teacher straight away. Normally they will be sent to the school reception where a trained First Aider will take care of them.

If pupils are too ill to remain at school or if hospital treatment is necessary then parents will be contacted to make suitable arrangements.

Under no circumstances should pupils leave the school or go home without permission from a senior member of staff.
