Today we’re excited to launch! A Novel Idea! Coombe Boys’ School’s new parent book group dedicated to exploring the exciting world of Young Adult fiction. Reading is one of the most powerful ways to build connection, empathy, and understanding and this group is a chance for our parent community to come together, enjoy great stories, and support the school’s wider culture of reading for pleasure. Each half term, members of A Novel Idea will: Receive updates and book announcements straight to their inbox Read the chosen YA title at their own pace Join a relaxed, face-to-face discussion evening in school to share thoughts, insights & ideas Enjoy themed events, library “staff picks,” and even the occasional guest author or virtual Q&A The group aims to be friendly, informal, and inclusive whether you’re an avid reader or simply curious to discover what young people are reading today. #WeWillRememberThem This #RemembranceDay as we mark the two minute silence, we are particularly proud to commemorate #CBSAlumni Squadron Leader Ian Willoughby Bazalgette and Flight Officer Cyril Barton who were both awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy. Today we pause to remember our #CBSAlumni and their sacrifice.
This morning our boys joined with other local organisations to mark this years Remembrance Parade and Service alongside @MaldenCoombe @royalbritishlegion thanks to all who attended and to our Head Boy for his reading. #LestWeForget
Our Year 11 Prefects have given up time in their holidays and each morning this week to support the New Malden @royalbritishlegion with the National Poppy Appeal. They’ll be back for one more day at the station tomorrow so do pop by and say hello whilst picking up your Poppy.
