National Poetry Day
To celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 28th September 2017, Coombe Boys' School welcomed a poet into school to carry out a workshop on freedom; the theme of National Poetry Day. Students explored what freedom meant to them and wrote their own freedom poems. We also asked students from Years 7 to 9 to respond to the theme of freedom in a creative way. Mrs Nolan, Head of English, also organised for a speaker from Amnesty International to come into school for an assembly to tell our community about their role in society and explore the topic of freedom further. Our visitor was very impressed with the enthusiasm and talent the students displayed in the sessions. Thank you to all those involved in making the day a great success.
