Exam Results and School Performance

Congratulations to our GCSE and BTEC Level 2 students receiving their results today.

Today we are celebrating the achievements of our 2023 Year 11 students who have received their GCSE and BTEC Level 2 results.  We are so proud of the resilience and determination this cohort has shown throughout their time at Coombe Boys’ School. They have had to face the challenging circumstances of  the pandemic which led to their early years here being significantly disrupted, but they have emerged stronger for it.  Our congratulations go out to each and every one of them.

Today’s results will be the stepping stones from which our students can take their next steps into further education, and we are delighted to see the majority of our boys enrolling at Coombe Sixth Form. We wish them every success on their A Level and BTEC Level 3 pathways which will no doubt lead them on to some exceptional university degree courses, apprenticeships and job opportunities.

It has been exciting to hear of students' plans today, and with such a wide choice of courses at Coombe Sixth Form they are certainly diverse.  Examples of just some of our students celebrating this morning amongst many include:

  • Aidan Catchpool who will be studying A Level Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science

  • Joshua Barrett who will be studying Physics, Maths and Biology

  • Tyrone Reid who will be studying A Level English Literature & Language, Drama, Politics and Business Studies

  • Lachlan Anderson who will be studying A Level Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics

  • Rohan Cranfield who will be studying A Level Economics, Physics, Maths and Further Maths

  • Elliot James who will be studying A Level Psychology, Economics and Biology

  • Alfie Armstrong who will be studying A Level Computer Science, Maths and Physics

Headteacher Mr Smith, expressed his pride in the achievements of the students and the resilience they have demonstrated. He stated, "These results are a reflection of the hard work, determination, and adaptability of our students. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the progress they have made despite the early disruptions caused by the pandemic. I also extend my gratitude to our dedicated teaching staff for their unwavering support and commitment to our students' success."

Result Summary 2022

We are extremely proud of our 2022 Year 11 students who today are celebrating their achievements after an unprecedented two years. Their GCSE & BTEC achievements have been based on a positive, resilient and determined approach to their GCSE studies.

As our boys take their next steps into further education we are of course delighted to see our boys enrolling into the Coombe Sixth Form today becoming our new Year 12 cohort as they begin their final two years with us here at Coombe. We were pleased to be able to speak with many this morning whose success on GCSE and BTEC Level 2 pathways has prepared the way for their next steps.

The cohort achieved a Progress 8 score of +0.21 and an Attainment 8 score of 51. 69% achieved a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics.

At Level 3 BTEC students achieved a progress score of +0.32 with the average grade of a Distinction.

Just some of the students celebrating this morning amongst many include:

  • Caden Tsang who will be studying A Level Computing, Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • Christian Brooks who will be studying A Level Physics, Mathematics and Computing
  • Adam Ansari who will be studying A Level Geography, Physics and Mathematics
  • Head Boy Rick Obadi who will be studying A Level Classics, History and Mathematics
  • Jawad Reslan who will be studying A Level Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics

It is fantastic to hear them chat excitedly about their grades and Level 3 subject choices from the wide range of 34 courses on offer spanning every area of the curriculum. It will be no time before they will be following in the footsteps of their Year 13 predecessors who are about to start on some exceptional university degree courses and apprenticeships.

“We are very proud of our boys’ hard work and resilience. This is the first year that students have taken summer exams since 2019. It is therefore fantastic to see so many of our talented and highly-motivated boys in such a strong position to be successful in the next stage of their academic careers at the Coombe Sixth Form. I would like to take a moment to thank our staff, students and their families for their ongoing support and dedication during this time.”

Congratulations to all Coombe students receiving their GCSE results today

Following a hugely successful A Level Results day where we were delighted to see so many of our boys attaining outstanding grades and securing places at their first choice Universities. We are also extremely proud of our 2021 Year 11 boys GCSE achievements, especially the way they have adapted to such a difficult and disrupted year.

This year, our congratulations to all our boys has a very particular significance given the resilience that they have all demonstrated in the face of 18 months of disruption to their learning, as well as uncertainty around the examination process. The excellent results that they have achieved therefore deserve the highest praise.

As our boys take the next steps of their Coombe Journey today, enrolling into the Coombe Sixth Form and becoming our new Year 12 cohort it is fantastic to hear them chat excitedly about their grades and Level 3 subject choices from the wide range of 34 courses on offer spanning every area of the curriculum. It will be no time before they will be following in the footsteps of their Year 13 predecessors who are about to start on some exceptional university degree courses and apprenticeships.

They adopted a resilient attitude and mature approach to their studies during incredibly challenging times and now move on to Coombe Sixth Form well prepared for the next stage of their educational journey. Congratulations to all Coombe students receiving their GCSE results

We are extremely proud of all our 2020 Year 11 students for their GCSE achievements which have been based on a positive, mature, conscientious and resilient approach to their GCSE studies over the last two years.

It is so pleasing to confirm that their overall success continues the tradition of outstanding attainment and progress at GCSE and they are to be recognised and highly commended for this. Well done to you all!

It has been great to see so many of our boys enrolling into the Coombe Sixth Form today becoming our new Year 12 cohort as they begin their final two years with us at Coombe. The atmosphere has been one of positivity and delight as they see each other and their teachers again after a break of five months. It is fantastic to hear them chat excitedly about their grades and Level 3 subject choices from the wide range of 34 courses on offer spanning every area of the curriculum.
