History is compulsory for all pupils at Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8, 9). Through these three years we aim to give all pupils a chronological understanding of Britain’s history from 1066 to the present day. Through this study we hope that all pupils will gain an understanding of how the world we live in today has evolved. We believe that the study of history arms pupils with the ability to analyse evidence, understand arguments and form knowledgeable, reflective, independent judgements.
Through learning these knowledge and skills it is hoped that all pupils at coombe boys complete an education in history that trains their mind to assemble, organise and present facts and opinions, aiming the boys with essential skills for many future careers.
At Key stage four history is a very popular option subject. We currently study with the EdExcel SHP board and undertake studies in Germany 1919-45, Crime and Punishment across time, 20th century protest and the Vietnam War.
